Archive for April, 2010

I woke up feeling a tiny bit better, but this deep chest cough is knocking me for a loop.  Hopefully the kids won’t act up TOO much today, because I’m exhausted.

Here’s our little guy, which we now affectionately call “our little bulldog” on occasion.  Look at those teeth and you’ll see why! LOL  I’m thinking he’ll be needing some orthodontic treatment in his future. ;)

Holden is such a sweetheart.  He says “Mama,” “Uh ohhhhh,” and “Wow.”  Has the best belly laugh, but you have to work super hard to get it, or my trick, just tickle him all over.  He is sooo ticklish, from his squishy little neck, to the palms of his hands, to the bottom of his chubby little feet.  He adores Kasen, but will definitely let us know when she’s getting on his nerves with a loud, throaty, “Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!”  Outside is one of his favorite places to be, especially in his swing or in the pool.  We think he’s going to be a fish like his big sister, which will be sooo cool.  They can wear each other out! :D  He likes to be picked up and would love for me to carry him on my hip allllll day, but that’s just not happening.  He’s almost 23 pounds and that’s heavy!  However; he’s not much of a snuggler at all.  At night, after he finishes his last bottle, I will say “Awwwww” and then he will lay his head on my chest.  I always say, “Oh, are you my little cuddle bug?”  Then, almost as soon as he puts his head on my chest, he lifts it and shakes his head “Nooooo.”  Little turkey.  We do this about 10 times every single night.  I love it.  His legs kick like crazy when he’s happy and he can crawl at rocket speed.  His favorite place to crawl as fast as he can is to the master bathtub.  He crawls up on the side and turns the water on, and stands there bouncing up and down because he’s so unbelievably proud of himself.  I had just sat him on the floor this morning after he had breakfast and before I could even get the bottle washed out, I had to run to see where he went.  Yep, there he was, already crawling up the side of the tub.  When he saw me, he turned away from me quickly and turned the water on before I could get to him.  All the while screaming happy screams.  Silly boy.  And yes, we keep our bedroom door closed because of this.  Obviously not fast enough this morning though.  He is the best sleeper and a great eater.  I don’t think he can top Kasen on the “great eater” front, but we’re willing to give it a try.  What a blessing he has been to our lives.  He brightens my every morning with his sweet smile and his adorable babbling.  Without further ado (and because I started this post four hours ago!) . . . . . . . . .finally, here’s our little chunky monkey.

Outdoor Fun

April 29, 2010

Life has been busy, as usual.  I woke up super sick this morning and that hasn’t been fun AT.ALL.  Thank goodness for my in-laws and my husband who completely took over child care so I could get some much needed rest.  I still feel really crummy, but I’m hoping by this weekend, I can start to feel myself again.  I’ve been taking pictures, but I just have not had the energy to edit them and post them.  When I start to feel better, I’m definitely going to work on that – I know some people have been missing my updates and I’m sorry about that. :(

Kasen has been her usual spunky self and now that her Mae Mae and Papa have returned from their vacation, she’s even better!  Holden is still climbing all over the place and he just about gives me a heart attack when I find him standing on a chair or a stool.  Crazy kid.  Kasen is still quite enthralled with him, and just told me the other day, “I sure love him.  I’m so glad I have a little brother.  You know that don’t you?!  Be-cuzzzzzzzzz, I wanted a baby SISTER.  Remember that?” LOL I have to admit it was hard for her when we kept telling her that he was a girl.  Well, we thought he was too.  Imagine our surprise when we found out our she was a he. :D  That was pretty hard on Kasen at first, because we had really built it up that she was going to have a baby sister.  Thank goodness she loves him.  We do too. :D

I’ve been taking a lot of pictures of the kids playing in our backyard.  We’re out there every single day.  They both LOVE being outside and our weather has just been gorgeous.

First Big Splash!

April 12, 2010

Today was Holden’s first time in the swimming pool and he LOVED it! :D  It was a beautiful day, but we did have to heat the pool up so it would be warm enough.  You can see from the pictures how much he enjoyed himself.  He was splashing, kicking, laughing and trying to stick his head in the water.  Soooo cute.  Kasen was thrilled that he was in the pool with her, but was not happy that she couldn’t hold him in the pool . . . . she wants to teach him to swim. LOL  We told her she could *help* in a few years. ;)

Our Sweet Girl

April 5, 2010

Our sweet little girl is very sick tonight. :(  She wouldn’t even touch her supper, or her drink, not even a popsicle. . . just sat at the table and cried that her head hurt.  She has a fever and she was even reluctant to take her “cherry medicine” – aka Children’s Tylenol, which she LOVES.  Guess we’ll have  a day of watching cartoons and movies tomorrow since she isn’t going to school.  Hopefully she’ll just be calm and not super cranky.  I really hate seeing her like that, soooo quiet, sooo still, not like our rambunctious, exuberant girl AT.ALL.  She did finally eat a popsicle and have few bites of dinner, so I’m feeling a little more hopeful.  Poor girl, I really thought she was just having allergy problems.  Guess I was wrong. :(

Here she is in happier times – our annual Easter egg shot – taken at Brad’s parents’ house because they have the lovely green grass that doesn’t turn brown during the winter.  Ours is a yucky brown color still.  We’re seeing a little green so it won’t be long now.

Happy Easter!!

April 3, 2010

Yep, I’ve been absent again.  So much going on and me just trying to survive. ;)

We had a great day of hunting Easter eggs, playing at the park, running around our neighborhood, having a fantastic dinner at Brad’s parents’ house, more hunting egss, blowing bubbles, and topping off the evening with a few Wii games.  Fun, fun!! :D

Here’s Kasen standing next to our neighbor’s art work.  They used 3D chalk, which is why Kasen is sporting their 3D glasses.  I used my brand new fish eye lens here – I received that for my birthday this past week.  And if you were wondering, I’m now 29! ;)  It’s a great number and I’m thinking I’ll be 29 for many, many years to come! LOL :)

Have a Blessed Easter!!!!!
