Wow, one whole year!  We all can’t believe it.  Can’t believe we survived! LOL  I’m not gonna’ lie, it was an extremely rough start (making me question my sanity 100s of times), but everything worked out and our life couldn’t be more complete with our wonderful little man.  His calm disposition, great sense of humor, adventurous qualities and his winning smile all make our hearts melt and know that he is the perfect fit for our family.  I can hardly wait to see that sweet smile in the morning and I adore the rocking before bedtime when he’s sooo funny and punchy because he’s so tired.  He’s become quite the snuggle bug that I secretly hoped he would become.  I’m his go-to person when he’s in distress and yes, I love that! ;)

Kasen is still head over heals in love with him.  I love to see Brad’s face light up when he comes home from work, Holden rounds the corner, crawling as fast as he can, saying “Da-yeeee, Da-yeeee, Da-yeeee.”  And now he’s walking around the corner, slowly, but further and further each day.  I have to laugh when he crawls up in his chair and now tells me, “Down, Down,” before the words can leave my mouth.  However; now he says “Geeeeet Down” while motioning his finger to the floor – cracks us all up every.single.time. :)

One year ago today, we met you for the first time Holden – what an exciting, fun adventure that we will never forget.  What a precious gift you are and we are forever grateful to your birth mom for making such a selfless decision.  Every day we feel blessed and honored to have been chosen to raise you and we couldn’t be more grateful.

We love you little man.  ONE YEAR – WOW!!!!  We can’t wait to see what the next year will bring.

Kasen and Brad meeting Holden for the first time. :)

I’ll be back to show more pictures of Holden – then and now.

See ya’ later!!

Happy Adoption Day

February 14, 2010

Four years ago today, Kasen became legally ours. *I wish I could find a jumping up and down excited emoticon* :D  She is our light after the storm, our rainbow baby, our precious, precious girl.  We couldn’t love her anymore if we tried. She is such a joy and we love her to the moon and back.

Kasen and Brad playing in the snow on Thursday.  We had a record snowfall here in Texas.  It was CRAZY!  I loved the snow, but didn’t like it when our power went out all evening.  Kasen and Brad went outside to build a snowman, but I think Kasen had more fun pelting Brad with snowballs. LOL

Since we still didn’t have power on Friday, we sat around the fire most of the day and tried to keep warm.  It was fun getting out some toys that haven’t been loved in a while.  It wasn’t fun explaining to Kasen why this didn’t work and that didn’t work because they all required electricity. ;)  See our sneaky little visitor. :)

Our sweet girl granting me with a super quick photo shoot this evening since it’s the day we legally became a forever family. :)

See ya’ later!!

January 23, 2010

Our sweetheart, our son, the  final chapter in our long family building journey.  He has such a sweet nature, loves to cuddle, he’s very sensitive, crazy strong, his big sister makes him laugh the most, and when his father enters the room, his whole face lights up. He has the best giggle and he can hurt your ears with his screeching like a dinosaur. LOL He is one precious little guy!

I decided to do a quick photo shoot this evening and I got tons of cute shots – Holden was really cooperative.  It was so cute.  Kasen was hugging him tonight and said “I really love Holden.  He’s a rock star!’ LOL  Yep, he is. :)

What an Awesome Start

January 1, 2010

What a great way to start the New Year.  First of all, I only had to get up for just a minute during the middle of the night – thank you Brad!!!  I helped change one of Holden’s diapers, but was able to immediately fall back asleep – all while Brad fed Holden and got him back down for the night.  Then Holden slept until 8:30 a.m.  Yahoooooo!!! :)

We then got up, straightened the house a little and prepared breakfast.  Well, I guess that kind of turned into brunch.  Brad’s parents came over and my Mom is here so we had all the grandparents together.  It was wonderful.  Then we had an all out fantastic day of playing with our new Wii.  We were slower to get one than most, but we thought Kasen would be ready this year and boy were we right.  She’s awesome, and definitely watch out when she plays “swording” – she’s relentless. LOL

Today was my idea of a perfect day – spent with those we love.  If today is any indication of how 2010 is going to be, I can hardly wait to see what else will come our way.  Right now, I’m happy, and more than anything, completely content with our lives, and it’s taken me a reeeealllly long time to feel that way.  Our family is complete, and I feel that we can finally move forward with our lives – no more chasing the adoption dream . . . . it’s right here, right in our laps, very real, and more than that . . . it’s better than I ever imagined. *happy tears*

And now, on with the pic!! LOL  Kasen pleads and begs not to have a bath every night, but she has the best time once she gives in.  Here’s our spunky little gal in the bath tonight after our super fun and exciting day. ~

See ya’ later and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!

Long Time

December 3, 2009

I had NO idea that it had been so long since I last blogged.  I guess life got in the way. ;)  Well, to catch up quickly – we have attended birthday parties, we had a great meeting with some special members of Holden’s birth family, Thanksgiving was wonderful, we’ve been decorating for Christmas, and both children got to meet Santa and get pictures taken.  One liked him, the other didn’t  - I’ll let you guess which one wasn’t fond of the big guy. :)  That’s the short version of where we’ve been- there’s lots more, but those are the highlights that came to mind right away.

Anyway, little dude wants you to know he’s been working hard on getting these new teeth – two now . . . and many more to come, which means a LOT more drool.  Whew, those bibs just get soaked all day long.  Not going to miss that.

Since it’s been SO long, I can’t exactly post without sharing a pic too! ;)  Here’s one of our silly little man – and yes, he’s as mischievous as he looks here. LOL

I Heart Faces Photo Contest

October 27, 2009

This week’s theme at I Heart Faces is “Halloween Dress-Up” and I knew immediately I wanted a picture of our Chunky Monkey in his monkey costume. ;)  I took some pics this afternoon with a very uncooperative subject LOL, and this was my best one.  I still want to get a great shot with his signature smile.  Now that he has a tooth to show off, I’d like to get that in the pics too.  Yep, you heard that right, he has his first tooth!!  It popped up the day before he turned four months old.  And you know what, Kasen’s first tooth popped up the day before she turned four months old too.  Isn’t that wild??!! :)

Since I’m throwing in news, here’s the BEST yet – we finalized this little monkey last Thursday – he is now and forever legally ours!!!!  Woooohooooooo!!!! :D

Okay, back to the contest. LOL  If you want to check out some really cute characters in all the other entries, go here ~  I Heart Faces.

I Know, I Know . . . .

July 14, 2009

that I’ve been missing in action, that there have been no more pictures of our newest little bundle, but I do have an excuse . . . well several.  I have a new computer, switched from PC to Mac -the learning curve is huge, new editing software-also a large learning curve, exhaustion from only getting three hours of sleep in a row, sometimes it’s only two, and just once did I get over five hours in a row (that was just a trick though – hasn’t happened again!).  Yesterday was the twelfth anniversary of my father’s death.  You would think it wouldn’t affect me as much after all these years, but that would be SO wrong.  *tears*  Boy do I miss him – we were so close and I miss not being able to share his newest grandson with him, and Kasen too, obviously he never met her either.  :(  Now add to that a VERY trying three year old – I would say that yesterday was one of our worst days, but she does LOVE her baby brother and is SUPER sweet to him, thank goodness.  I keep hearing it’s all normal and I’m certainly banking on that. ;)

We just had another home study this morning and we’ll be having another one next month, and then another one the month after that – Florida requires three home studies in the first three months, and since we placed in Florida, we have to abide by their rules.  Today’s home study went great, Kasen was excited to see our case worker, and it was fun to show off Holden too. :)

Well, I’ll leave you with one picture of my sweeties since that’s all I could figure out how to edit. LOL  I do LOVE this picture – my precious family. :)

New week, new contest.  At least this week I’m not struggling to get my entry in before the contest closes.  I’m a day ahead!!  Wooohooo!!  And for those of you checking, still no news on the baby.  We are eagerly awaiting the call though!! ;)

This week’s photo contest theme for the kids entry is “Let’s Hear It For the Boys!” ~ Must be a photo of a boy or boys. No girls allowed this week!

Don’t forget to check out all the other cool entries at I Heart Faces

This is one of my very favorite boy shots – it’s our cousin’s son.  The camo hat, his gorgeous eyes, and that sweet grin just make the picture super special to me! :)

For my adult entry – the same theme goes – “Let’s Hear It For The Boys” ~Must be a photo of a man/men. No ladies allowed this week!

Don’t forget to check out the other great entries here~ I Heart Faces

This picture was taken at the end of a photo shoot and little “Z” was tuckered out.  He’s snuggling his bear and Daddy is snuggling him – too precious.  I adore the look on Dad’s face – you can tell that he is totally smitten with his son. :)

See ya’ later!!

Father’s Day

June 21, 2009

I know I’ve been absent – we are still trying to get ready for this new baby and  getting ready to travel on a moment’s notice.  It makes it very hard for this die-hard planner . . . spontaneity is not a word in my vocabulary! LOL

Today was such a great day spent with Brad’s parents – good fun and great food!!  Even Brad and his Dad did some work at our house – thank you soo much Doug!!  And thanks for the food Doug & Heather – it was terrific!!

Here’s a pic of Kasen and HER Daddy!!  She is totally a Daddy’s girl lately.  They were playing in the pool today and she told him that he was the King and she was the Princess.  Yep, that about sums it up! LOL ;)
